I love simple recipes that don’t require a lot of prep time. And I have created a bunch of recipes that are perfect for the slow cooker. My slow-cooker mushroom chicken couldn’t be easier! It takes less than 5 minutes to prepare!
I started cooking from scratch after I got married. My then-husband had some health issues that were impacting his daily life. And I wondered if moving away from fast food, frozen dinners, and junk food would benefit his body. So I began to gather some healthier recipes to cook from scratch. And went into the kitchen each day to cook our dinners instead of reaching for something “convenient”.
Slowly, but surely eating healthier along with other lifestyle changes did help him. His health began to improve and he was physically feeling better. I really love cooking from scratch now. Honestly, I think meals prepared from scratch just taste better. And I love knowing just what I’m putting in my body. If I’m honest, my body can’t get away with eating the way I did when I was in my 20’s!
You can use any cream of mushroom soup for this recipe. I tend to opt towards more natural brands such as Pacific Foods or even homemade. Those options can also be good for those who are avoiding gluten which some of the major brands contain.
For the prep, all you do is throw the ingredients into your slow cooker, turn it on, and let the food cook all day! You can serve this over rice, pasta, or potatoes. It works well with any of them! I love to make this with egg noodles and a side of green beans. It’s such a simple dish, but tastes SO good!
