In the past two years, I have been recognizing soul expression more in my own life. Do you know what it is?
I’ve been singing pretty much since I could talk. Music and the expression of it through my voice has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. It was always something that connected to me deeply. But there were always certain performances when I allowed my ego to get out of the way. When the ego was removed, I expressed what was created from the deepest levels of my soul. How did I know the ego was out of the way? Because of an overwhelming feeling of gratitude that I felt when I had finished performing. It always brought tears to my eyes and I felt very humbled that I got an opportunity to experience the music in such a profound manner. Many artists go through their lives and never have the chance to experience that feeling.
In this rare video of Judy Garland singing “Over the Rainbow,” you can see her deep emotional connection to this piece…even though it was a piece she had sung thousands of times.
You don’t have to be a singer or even a performer to connect with something on a soul level. Any time you are creating anything, you have an opportunity to get your ego out of the way and express that creation through your soul. Dancing, singing, painting, writing, gardening, cooking, crafting, knitting….are all things that you can experience doing on a soul level. So how do you connect with that soul level?
Look for negative thoughts!
If your thoughts are negative and you are angry, worried, frustrated, or sad…then the emotional vibration of those things will prevent you from having the soul expression that you desire. That type of thought truly doesn’t serve you and you need to refocus your thoughts on something more positive. A lot of people aren’t even aware that they have the power to control their thoughts. Well, we all do, so now it’s time to take a look at what’s going on and change the thoughts that aren’t serving us!
Focus on joy and gratitude!
These emotions are higher in vibrational energy and can allow you to connect to your spirit much more easily. So while you are creating, focus on the thoughts that feel good. Pick something to be grateful for….and let’s face it, we ALL have a lot to be grateful for! And be grateful for the project you are working on as well! That is a powerful way to connect with the soul!
Love what you are doing!
If you don’t love what you are doing, then why are you doing it? When it comes to creating, it is always good to remember why you love it. Love is incredibly powerful in any form, and focusing on creating in love is one of the most powerful things you can ever do. It helps to push the ego, which would have you creating for external validation and approval to creating simply because of the beauty of creating itself. Once you can do that, you will be able to look at your project from a soul perspective…with boundless love.
