Making your own taco seasoning mix is simple to do and allows you to control what you are putting in it and what you are feeding to your family. It allows you to customize things like the amount of spiciness in your seasoning mix.
The homemade taco seasoning mix is great for tacos, taco salads, vegetable dips and so much more. If one batch isn’t enough, then you can make multiple batches and store them in airtight containers in your pantry or cupboard!

Taco Seasoning Mix
- 2 tsp chili powder
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Add all ingredients to a small dish.
- Mix well.
- This seasoning mix is the equivalent of one envelope of store-bought seasoning mix. It is best to use this with 1 pound of ground beef, turkey, or chicken.
- If using less than the full amount, store any leftover seasoning in a small airtight container
